How it works

Your path to Canada, step by step

Send us your details

Complete our form to tell us about your situation. You will hear back from us within one business day.

Case assessment

We review your situation in depth and set out a clear strategy with realistic timelines.

File preparation

At this stage, the documents are gathered, evidence is assembled and the file is checked against itself until nothing in it contradicts anything else. Where your history is complicated, it is explained in the file rather than left for an immigration officer to discover.

Submission and follow up

Your application is submitted with full legal representation. When IRCC writes, we respond and you hear what it means from us.

The standard behind the work

April Amanda Nutakor is an immigration lawyer licensed in Ontario, serving clients across Canada and worldwide.

Born in Crimea, she spent her first 15 years there before moving to Ghana, where she lived for more than a decade. At the University of Ghana School of Law, she earned her Bachelor of Laws degree with First Class Honours, graduating as valedictorian with the highest recorded GPA at the university since 2012.

She then obtained a Master of Laws degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada and went on to join a Montreal law firm with over 50 employees. There, she excelled as a lawyer and was promoted to Head of the Common Law Department. At every step, she has held herself to the highest standards and today she brings that same rigour to every immigration case she handles.

Having lived on three continents and through political upheaval, April understands what is at stake for her clients.

“I understand what it means to build a life in a new country. I have done it three times. That experience drives everything I do.”

FAQ

Your questions, answered

Clear answers about consultations, fees and how we work on your immigration file.

1. Why work with an immigration lawyer?

Immigration applications come with strict eligibility rules, detailed forms and firm deadlines. A lawyer helps you understand your options, spot problems early and build an approach that fits your situation.

At Nutakor Law, we handle your application from start to finish. If you prefer to prepare and submit it yourself, we also offer an application review with advice before you file.

2. What are your fees for immigration services?

Most of our immigration services are offered at a flat fee, so you know the legal fee for the agreed work in advance. More complex matters may need a different arrangement. Either way, you receive a clear fee structure before you retain us.

Our legal fees do not include government fees, such as Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) processing fees, the right of permanent residence fee and biometrics. They also do not include third party costs such as language tests, medical exams, police certificates and translations. We tell you which fees apply to your application before you retain us.

The initial consultation lasts 30 minutes and costs $150 CAD plus applicable taxes. If you decide to retain us, the consultation fee will be credited toward your file. Any additional legal fees will be discussed with you and agreed upon before we proceed with your file.

3. How long will it take for my immigration application to be processed?

Processing times vary depending on the type of application, the immigration program and the circumstances of your case. They also change based on the volume of applications being processed by IRCC.

We help you understand the estimated processing time for your application and identify any factors that may affect your timeline. While processing times are outside our control, we will guide you through the process and keep you informed of important steps along the way.

4. How do I know which Canadian immigration pathway is right for me?

There is no single immigration pathway that is right for everyone. The appropriate option depends on factors such as your education, work experience, language skills, family situation, current status in Canada and long term goals.

At Nutakor Law, we begin by understanding your situation and goals before recommending an immigration strategy. A consultation can help you understand which options may be available to you and what requirements you would need to meet.
